LIGHTNING STREET
How it works

A street of billboards for Bitcoin projects, paid in sats

Lightning Street is an isometric city where every building is an advertising block. Pay over the Lightning Network to enter one: your logo goes up, and it stays up until somebody pays more for it - which pays you.

Build it, customise it, get bought out

Pick an unclaimed address, pay the invoice from any Lightning wallet, and it is yours: upload a logo, choose the building's shape and colour, write a line about your business and link to your site. Every visitor of the street sees it.

Anyone can take it from you by paying 1.21 times what you paid. You are not losing it for nothing: you get your money back plus a share of the margin, sent to your Lightning address as soon as the payment settles.

Enter the block. The twenty-first seals it.

Every owner who buys a block enters it: their logo goes up, and the block gains a level. The 21st owner seals it, like the miner who closes a block - they keep it for good, and sealing it lets the chain go on. The next street opens, they name it, and they earn 7% of every resale on it, for as long as it trades.

Which wallets give you a Lightning address

Your winnings leave this street to a Lightning address - the you@wallet.com you put in “Your sats”. It looks like an email address and works like one: anyone can pay it, at any time, without asking you first. Without one, what you earn waits on your balance.

Self-custody, with a real Lightning address

You hold the keys; an LSP or a swap service takes the payment while you are offline.

Custodial - a real Lightning address

Somebody else holds the sats. Simplest to start with.

No Lightning address to receive on

Phoenix (BOLT 12 and BIP 353 only), Muun, Electrum, BlueWallet, Bitkit. Fine wallets - just not a place to be paid by name.

This moves fast. Check inside the app before you commit to one address.

The distinction that trips people up

A real Lightning address is LNURL-pay (LUD-16): a web address behind a name, which answers any payer, including a closed wallet. Phoenix gives something else - a BIP-353 address (@phoenixwallet.me) that resolves through DNS to a BOLT 12 offer. Android users can reserve theirs, but few platforms recognise it: Nostr zaps and ordinary LNURL senders do not. This street pays to LNURL-pay addresses, so a Phoenix address will not do.

Questions

What is Lightning Street?

An isometric city of advertising blocks for Bitcoin projects. Each block is a building with your logo on a billboard above it, bought and sold in sats over the Lightning Network. Twenty-one blocks make a street, and the street only grows one way.

How much does a block cost?

An unclaimed block costs 2,100 sats. After that, anyone can buy it out from its owner at 1.21 times the last price.

What happens to the money when my block is bought out?

You get back what you paid plus 10.5%. The platform takes the other 10.5%. On a street that has a champion, it is 7% to you, 7% to the platform and 7% to the champion. Payouts go to your Lightning address automatically.

What are levels, and what is a champion?

Every owner enters the block: each sale adds one level, up to 21. The 21st owner seals it, the way a miner closes a block of transactions - they own it for good, it can never be bought again, and the chain goes on: that champion opens the next street of 21 blocks, names it, and earns 7% of every resale on it for as long as it trades.

Do I need an account?

No email and no password. You sign in by scanning a QR code with a Lightning wallet that supports LNURL-auth, such as Phoenix, Zeus, Breez or Wallet of Satoshi. Your wallet key is your identity.

Does a block give my website a backlink?

It gives you a visible, clickable link seen by every visitor of the street. Because the block is paid for, the link is marked rel="sponsored", as search engines require for paid links: it sends you visitors, not search ranking.

What are the airships?

Banners towed across the sky above the street. A day of sky costs 2,107 sats, billed by the hour, for up to 72 hours. Two banners fly at a time, and every banner is checked by a moderator before it takes off; a refused banner is refunded.

What is the moon?

Click the full moon and 210 sats are yours. It refills every 21 hours, 21 minutes and 21 seconds, and goes to whoever clicks it first.

What else can I play?

A scratch card once a day: three matching squares win, from 1 sat to 210. Three missions worth 210 sats each: complete your profile, refer a friend, share your block on X. A lottery of 2,100 sats drawn on the 21st of the month, where every rewarding action earns a ticket. And a collective bonus: every 21 sales on a street, everyone holding a block there takes 21 sats. All of them are for people who currently hold a block.

What is the tide?

A walk down the street, one block a day. Day one, click the owner's link on block #1 and the tide brings you 21 sats; day two, block #2 brings 22; day three, block #3 brings 23 - one sat more each day, as far as the street goes. One tide every 21 hours, 21 minutes and 21 seconds, your own clock, not a race. Missing a whole window sends you back to block #1. It needs a block on the street, same as the moon.
